She is a general dentist with post-graduate qualifications in oral surgery and implant dentistry, but is not an AHPRA-registered specialist.

She performs many of the same oral and implant surgical procedures as an oral or maxillofacial surgeon, in the dental chair for suitable patients.

Referrals from dentists and other practitioners are also welcome, and referred patients are then returned to their regular dentist for ongoing general dental care after their surgical treatment is completed.

XO Smiles offers three sedation options:

• happy gas (nitrous oxide)

• oral sedation (benzodiazepine)

• IV twilight sedation

The most appropriate option depends on your procedure, health history, age, anxiety level, and comfort needs, and is discussed with Dr Christine May before treatment is booked.

Please note, XO Smiles does NOT offer general anaesthesia (GA). But can happily refer you to an appropriate dental specialist for care at a hospital if this is required.

Initial consults start from $150 before any applicable health fund rebates. The consultation can include: introduction, health history review, risk assessment, informed consent, treatment planning, what to expect during and after treatment, and medication scripts.

Imaging, photos, digital scans, and other diagnostics will incur additional fees.
